Function of preamp tubes in a Mk II Empty Function of preamp tubes in a Mk II

Post by colejustesen Thu Jul 11, 2019 10:23 am

Since there are so many preamp tubes in the Triamp Mk II, it is hard for me to understand what time is doing what. Does anyone have a breakdown of what each position does in the amp? If you do, please share! Thanks!

    Amp. 1A and 1B = tube 3 (E83CC)

    Amp. 1B = tube 2 (E83CC)

    Amp. 2A and 2B = tube 5 (E83CC)

    Amp. 3A and 3B = tube 4 (E83CC)

    Amp. 3A = tube 6 (E83CC)

    Amp. 3B = tube 7 (E83CC) or 8 (E83CC)

    Amp. 2 and 3 = tube 4 (E83CC)

    Amp. 1 and 2 = tube 1 (E83CC)

    Tube 9 is phase inverter

12AX7 can be used in place of ECC83

Power tubes are EL34 or equivalent

I know this is an old forum...

but, whenever the amp calls for an "E83CC" it's not actually calling for that type of tube. As far as I know JJ is the only one making a true E83CC frame grid tube. Any other tube that says 7025/E83CC just means that it's a select high grade ECC83 (12AX7).

    Layout:
    V1 - Amp 1 & Amp 2
    V2 - Channels 1B (Preamp)
    V3 - Channels 1A & 1B (Preamp output)
    V4 - Amp 2 & Amp 3
    V5 - Channels 2A & 2B
    V6 - Channel 3A
    V7 - Channel 3B
    V8 - Channel 3B
    V9 - Phase Inverter

    Channel Routes:
    1A - V1, V3, V9
    1B - V1, V2, V3, V9
    2A - V1, V4, V5, V9
    2B - V1, V4, V5, V9
    3A - V4, V6, V9
    3B - V4, V7, V8, V9
